Amy Schumer and Emily Ratajkowski were arrested in Washington, D.C. while protesting the Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh, who has been accused of sexual assault by multiple women.

While Schumer’s arrest was caught on camera and has since become a trending topic on Twitter, Ratajkowski reported hers on her own. The model took to Instagram to share the news along with a picture of her at the Capitol, holding a protest sign that read, “Respect our existence or expect our resistance.”

“Today I was arrested protesting the Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh, a man who has been accused by multiple women of sexual assault,” Ratajkowski captioned her post. “Men who hurt women can no longer be placed in positions of power.”

“Kavanaugh’s confirmation as a Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States is a message to women in this country that they do not matter,” she continued. “I demand a government that acknowledges, respects and supports women as much as it does men.”

Amber Heard, Alicia Keys, Erykah Badu, Esperanza Spalding and John Legend were at the protest as well. “Proud to be here with so many incredibly brave survivors and proud people who care about this nation in such an important time,” Heard wrote on her Instagram.

Schumer was detained along with other protesters at the Hart Senate office building. In one of the videos below, a police officer is seen asking Schumer, “Do you want to be arrested?” She replies, “Yes.”

In another video from the scene, Schumer talks directly to a woman’s camera to say hello to her daughter. “I’m here with your mom. She loves you very much. I think we’re going to get arrested, and we’re so proud of you,” Schumer said.

Schumer appeared alongside Senator Kirsten Gillibrand — a Democrat from New York — on the steps of the Supreme Court this afternoon, and even spoke to the crowd. Ratajkowski stood by Gillibrand, as well.
