Simone Biles didn’t allow kidney stone (nicknamed “the Doha pearl” by her) to deter her from participating in the ongoing 2018 edition of the World Artistic Gymnastics Championship.

As on Friday afternoon, the Olympic gold gymnast did not train for the qualifying rounds of the competition, because she was hospitalized.

The 21-year-old American athlete displayed her Patriotism in the midst of the pain when she tweeted “Nothing like a late night ER visits less than 24 hrs before the World Championships, this kidney stone can wait … doing it for my team! I’ll be a Gucci girl.”

Immediately they finished her diagnosis; she flew to Qatar without doing the surgery. In her tweet, she assured her fans of her commitment to the game: “We will deal with it after world championships! Fingers crossed, it stays okay!!!”

Despite her condition Biles still achieved the top position for the beam, floor, vault (jump) and the individual overall competition and second place on the uneven bars, allowing her to take part in the finals of the four events and all-around event.

With the best overall female gymnasts ranking in the competition, Biles also helped the US team finish first, almost nine points ahead of Russia, which finished second. Biles and Morgan Hurd (second placed individual all-round), will represent the American team in final this week.

With the outcome of the qualifying rounds, the 10 times World champion, could be on her way to winning the women’s all-round title for the fifth time. A feat no female gymnast has achieved.
